  • Scottish Book Trust 55 Trunk's Close Edinburgh, Scotland, EH1 1TB United Kingdom (map)

FEATURING:

Ryan Van Winkle, Jenny Lindsay, Withered Hand, Emelle

Music fae:

Withered Hand: the musical project of Edinburgh-based artist Dan Willson. Withered Hand has released a flurry of fantastic EPs and an album, working with the likes of King Creosote and cult American producer Kramer (Low / Galaxie 500 / Daniel Johnston); he’s done BBC live sessions with Marc Riley and Vic Galloway. His debut album continues to gain endorsement from quarters as diverse as DJ and indie superstar Jarvis Cocker, alternative music legend Julian Cope and comedian Daniel Kitson. He signed to Absolutely Kosher Records, toured America, had BBC follow his progress and has a new EP Heart Heart which has just arrived on Fence Records. We have it on good authority he’ll be trying out a new song or two - http://witheredhand.com/

Spoken Word fae:

Ryan Van Winkle is a big dog in the poetry world: Reader-in-Residence at the Scottish Poetry Library, curator of the Golden Hour (events and tours), Editor of Forest Publications and member of electronic spoken word / glow stick brandishing collective The Naughty Boys. His first collection Tomorrow, We Will Live Here arrived through Salt’s Crashaw Prize and was shortlisted for the Bridport and Ver Poetry Prizes. He bats for Team America, has been travelling the homelands for the past six months and as a result his notable moustache has become a grizzly beard - ryanvanwinkle.com/

Jenny Lindsay is one of Scotland's leading performance poets. She has appeared at many different festivals, events and cabarets, including Latitude, the Edinburgh International Book Festival and Cheltenham Literature Festival. Through promoting live poetry with The Big Word (2002-2008), and more recently with Is This Poetry? (2010), she has been instrumental in creating a thriving live poetry scene in Edinburgh and beyond. Her debut collection The Things You Leave Behind (2011) is published by Red Squirrel Press. http://www.redsquirrelpress.com/index.php?behind
